Madhurashtakam

Madhurashtakam is composed by Shri Vallabhacharya(Indian Philosopher).  He founded the Krishna- centered Pushti sect of Vaishnavism in the Braj region of India and the philoshphy of Shuddha advaita(pure nondualism).

Madhurashtakam is a popular devotion bhajan which is composed by Shri Vallabhacharya.  This Madhurashtakam contains eight stanzas(couplets).

In this “Madhurashtakam”, Vallabh acharya ji explains about everything which is related to Lord Krishna like appearance, qualities, flute, symbols, flowers offered to him and motifs related to the life of Lord Krishna is sweet. In short, Lord Krishna is the lord of sweetness.  Basic essence of this Krishna Madhurashtkam is that devotee gets fascinated not merely by the divine sweet form of Lord Krishna but also is mesmerized by all activities done by Lord Krishna be his dress, walk, speech, songs, plays etc. All these acts enable the devotee to enter in the beautiful divine presence of Lord Shri Krishna and also to experience Lord Krishna real essence. That’s why this Ashtkam plays very vital role in realization of form of Lord Krishna.

 

If you are facing any issues in your love – relationship life – like between couple, they can listen or chant this Madhurashtakam. It helps to make environment Madhur that is sweet.

Madhurashtakam – श्री कृष्णमधुराष्टकम

Below, i am sharing Madhurashtakam shaloka in Sanskrit. There are eight Shalokas. I am also sharing translation of Madhurashtakam (मधुराष्टकम)

in Hindi as well as in English.

 

अधरं मधुरं वदनं मधुरं,

नयनं मधुरं हसितं मधुरम्।

हृदयं मधुरं गमनं मधुरं,

मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ।।1।।

श्रीमधुराधिपति का सभी कुछ मधुर है, आपके होंठ मधुर हैं, आपका मुख मधुर है,

आपकी ऑंखें मधुर हैं, आपकी हास्य(मुस्कान) मधुर है,

आपका हृदय मधुर है, आपकी (गति)चाल मधुर है,

मधुरता के ईश हे श्रीकृष्ण! आपका सब कुछ मधुर है ॥१॥

 

O Lord Krishna! everything about you is sweet. Your lips are sweet , your face is sweet ,

Your eyes are sweet, your laugh is sweet,

Your heart is sweet, your laughter is sweet.

O Lord of sweetness! (ShreeMadhuraadipati) everything about you is sweet ।।1।।

वचनं मधुरं चरितं मधुरं,

वसनं मधुरं वलितं मधुरम्।

चलितं मधुरं भ्रमितं मधुरं,

मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ।।2।।

आपका वचन(बोलना) मधुर है, आपके चरित्र मधुर हैं ,

आपके वस्त्र मधुर हैं, आपका तिरछा खड़ा होना मधुर है ,

आपका चलना मधुर है, आपका भ्रमण(घूमना) मधुर है,

मधुरता के ईश हे श्रीकृष्ण!(श्रीमधुराधिपति) आपका का सभी कुछ मधुर है ॥ २ ॥

O Lord Krishna! Your speech is sweet, Your acts are sweet,

Your Garments are sweet, Your bent posture is sweet,

Your movements are sweet, Your roaming is sweet.

O Lord of sweetness! (ShreeMadhuraadipati) everything about you is sweet only. ।।2।।

 

 

वेणुर्मधुरो रेणुर्मधुर:,

पाणिर्मधुर: पादौ मधुरौ।

नृत्यं मधुरं सख्यं मधुरं,

मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ।।3।।

उनका वेणु (बांसुरी,मुरली) मधुर है, आपके लगाये हुए पुष्प मधुर हैं,

आपके हाथ मधुर हैं, आपके चरण की धूल मधुर है, करकमल मधुर है,

नृत्य मधुर है, मित्रता (सख्य) भी अति मधुर है.

मधुरता के ईश हे श्रीकृष्ण! (श्रीमधुराधिपति) का सभी कुछ मधुर है|॥३॥

 

O Lord Krishna! Your flute is sweet, your garland(flowers) is sweet,

Your hands are sweet, your feet are sweet,

Your dance is sweet, your friendship is sweet.

O Lord Krishna of sweetness! (ShreeMadhuraadipati) everything about you is sweet only. ।।3।।

 

 

गीतं मधुरं पीतं मधुरं,

भुक्तं मधुरं सुप्तं मधुरम्।

रूपं मधुरं तिलकं मधुरं,

मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ।।4।।

आपके गीत मधुर हैं, आपका पीना मधुर है,

आपका भोजन(खाना) मधुर है, आपका शयन(सोना) मधुर है,

आपका रूप मधुर है, आपका तिलक(टीका) मधुर है,

मधुरता के ईश हे श्रीकृष्ण!(श्रीमधुराधिपति) आपका सभी कुछ मधुर है ॥४॥

 

O Lord Krishna! your singing is sweet, your drinking is sweet,

your eating is sweet, your sleeping is sweet,

your form(beauty) is sweet, your mark of the forehead is sweet.

O Lord of sweetness! (ShreeMadhuraadipati) everything about you is sweet only. ।।4।।

करणं मधुरं तरणं मधुरं,

हरणं मधुरं रमणं मधुरम्।

वमितं मधुरं शमितं मधुरं,

मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ।।5।।

आपके कार्य मधुर हैं, आपका तैरना मधुर है,

आपका हरण(चोरी) करना मधुर है, आपका रमण(प्यार) करना मधुर है,आपका

आपका उद्धार शब्द मधुर हैं, आपका शांति भी अति मधुर है,

मधुरता के ईश हे श्रीकृष्ण!(श्रीमधुराधिपति) आपका सब कुछ मधुर है ॥ ५ ॥

 

O Lord Krishna! your deeds are sweet, your floating is sweet,

your act of stealing is sweet, your divine love play is sweet,

your words are sweet, your silence is sweet.

O Lord of sweetness! (ShreeMadhuraadipati) everything about you is sweet only.।।5।।

 

गुंजा मधुरा माला मधुरा,

यमुना मधुरा वीची मधुरा।

सलिलं मधुरं कमलं मधुरं,

मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ।।6।।

 

आपकी गोपियाँ मधुर हैं, आपकी माला मधुर है,

आपकी यमुना मधुर है, उसकी लहरें(तरंगें) मधुर हैं,

उसका जल मधुर है और उसके कमल मधुर हैं,

आपकी शिष्टता मधुर है, मधुरता के ईश हे श्रीकृष्ण!(श्रीमधुराधिपति) आपका सब कुछ मधुर है ॥ ६॥

 

O Krishna! your berries are sweet, your garland is sweet,

your river Yamuna is sweet, her(Yamuna) waves are sweet,

Her(Yamuna) water is sweet, your lotus is sweet.

O Lord of sweetness! (ShreeMadhuraadipati) everything about you is sweet only.।।6।।

 

गोपी मधुरा लीला मधुरा,

युक्तं मधुरं मुक्तं मधुरम्।

दृष्टं मधुरं शिष्टं मधुरं,

मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ।।7।।

आपकी गोपियाँ मधुर हैं, आपकी लीला मधुर है,

आप उनके साथ मधुर हैं, आप उनके बिना मधुर हैं,

आपका देखना मधुर है, आपकी श‍िष्टाचार मधुर है,

मधुरता के ईश हे श्रीकृष्ण!(श्रीमधुराधिपति) आपका सब कुछ मधुर है ॥७॥

 

O Krishna! your Gopis are sweet, your playing is sweet,

With them you are sweet, without them you are sweet,

your glance is sweet, your courtesy is sweet.

O Lord of sweetness! (ShreeMadhuraadipati) everything about you is sweet only.।।7।।

 

गोपा मधुरा गावो मधुरा,

यष्टिर्मधुरा सृष्टिर्मधुरा।

दलितं मधुरं फलितं मधुरं,

मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ।।8।।
