As per Hindu Calendar, Vasant Panchmi falls on the fifth day of Magha Month. This Vasant Panchami falls in Feb- March month every year and it marks beginning of spring season.

In Hindi Vasant means “spring”. Panchami denotes the fifth, hence Vasant Panchami falls on the fifth day in the Magha Month as per Hindu Calendar.

Few call Vasant as Basant Panchami also. On this day, one should workship Goddess Maa Saraswati.

Vasant Panchami falls on 16 feb 2021 in this year.

As per Hindu Panchang, panchami tithi will start at 3.35 am and will end on 17 feb 2021 around 5.46 am.

Vasant Panchami And Saraswati Puja Significance

Spring is regarded as the “King” of all seasons and is marked as one of most important festival of Hindu Culture.

Basant Pachami is the celebration of the agricultural fields beginning to ripen with beautiful mustard flowers. This day is dedicated to the goddess of music ,knowledge ,art and wisdom.

People wear yellow clothes, consume yellow sweets on the day of Vasant Panchami, and beautify their homes to make this festival cheerful. They also offer yellow flowers to the Goddess as yellow is believed to be her favourite colour.

In India, there are eighteen harvest festivals celebrated in India celebrated in a year and one of them is Basant Panchami.

Godess Maa Saraswati is the mother of the Vedas.

In our country India, many people consider Basant Panchami day as a pure and pious event for their children to start writing their first-ever letters or words or any form of education at intial stage.

Many people start there new beginings in creative field Today. Remember, Godess Maa Saraswati is seen playing Veena which symbolises the importance of music, art and creavity in one’s life.

On this day of Basant Panchami, devotees worship Godess Maa Saraswati to get her divine blessings.

Saraswati puja consists of a ritual wherein education is executed for children. It is also referred to as Vidyarambham(start of education), one of the key rituals of this fest.

Most of the schools and colleges organise a puja on their premises to attain the Goddess grace.

Even, astrologers honour Basant Panchmi as the day of Abujha, a favourable time to begin all the auspicious tasks.

How to do Pooja of Godess Maa Saraswati on Vasant Panchami

On the day of Vasant Panchami, you can do pooja of Maa Godess Saraswati in this day

  • Get up Early
  • Clean your home and Mandir
  • Put a Paste of Neem and Turmeric all over your body before you take bath.
  • Wear Yellow colour as yellow colour is favourite colour of Godess Maa Saraswati
  • Offer yellow colour flowers, turmeric, rice etc to Godess Maa Saraswati today when you visit the temple.
  • In case if you are not visiting temple like due to fear of Covid, then you can do pooja of Godess Saraswati as well as Lord Ganesha.  Offer yellow colour flowers, turmeric, rice etc to Godess Maa Saraswati
  • Light lamp in front of Maa Godess Saraswati.

Recite Saraswati Maa Mantra.

Devotees should be east facing when they are doing pooja or rituals of Godess Maa Saraswati.
